Casting Impregnation Process by A B Seals Inc
At A B Seals Inc, we specialize in the casting impregnation process, a crucial manufacturing technique that ensures your castings are leak-proof and durable. Located in Sullivan, IL, our expertise spans over a century, offering a reliable solution for your sealing needs. By leveraging advanced equipment and technology, we efficiently evacuate air from the pores of castings and introduce specialized sealing materials, providing robust and long-lasting results. Our process include:
- Placing castings in a vacuum chamber
- Applying a vacuum to remove air from the pores
- Introducing a sealing material, such as resin or polymer
- Curing the sealant to ensure leak-proof parts

All About the Impregnating Cycle
Castings must be oil-free, with only minute porosity present. The castings are placed in the pressure vessel, a vacuum of 29" or more is drawn for approximately 15 minutes. This vacuum operation removes air and moisture from the inner walls of the castings.
The liquid valve is opened and the Mogul Cast Seal "B" is induced into the pressure vessel, covering the castings without breaking the vacuum. The liquid valve is then closed, pressure of 80 to 100 psi is applied for approximately 15 minutes to ensure further penetration of the sealant. The Mogul Cast Seal "B" is then returned to the supply tank.
The castings are removed from the pressure vessel and rinsed in cold water. No solvent is necessary for cleaning and no baking is required. Allow 72 hours before testing, after castings have been air-cured.
Castings impregnated with our process and material show no surface evidence of impregnation.
There is no possibility of Mogul Cast Seal "B," after impregnating the porous area of a casting, to flake, chip, or break loose, since the wall thickness of the casting is impregnated, and it is not just a surface seal. The metallic flours used in Mogul Cast Seal "B" will not set up electrolytic action in aluminum castings.
